Polynikes - doubt it

The article says "Intel has named the product line Intel High Performance SSD and will mainly targeting enterprise, mid-range and high-end notebook markets."

So they're not going to try and touch the low-end notebook market with this. Well, I guess it wouldn't be "low-end" any more if they did!

This sucks

Does this mean we'll be forced to get an SSD on a Centrino 2 laptop? No option for a regular HDD?

Isnt That the point?

Is not that the point of a design "platform" ? If AMD could get their act togeather on the moblie side of their business it would be diffirent but since intel makes processors, network, chipset, graphics and now SSD it behoves them to offor this as a option.

The oems(quanta, compal, etc) still have to design the layout and casing so there is still work to be done there.

Besides AMD has no leverage in the mobile segment since intel has chips top to bottom with Atom thru Montevina they got top to bottom coverage.

The more SSDs that hit the market the better for pricing and the odd of getting a nice SSD in your next notebook goes up a lot if Intel offers it as part of their platform.

I just wish AMD had something in the moblie area cause otherwise the pirces will still be higher without the added compitition.
