IGN got their hands on final PS3 Orange Box code, and guess what. It does not suffer any of the issues that the preview suffered from.

Infact it runs 30FPS, same as the 360 version, and looks better.

Inquirer are looking mightly foolish right now..

However you can expect them not to posta retraction.

A game still in development, has issues preventing it being releases just yet..

Lets see how PS3 Orange Box behaves when it's released, until this STFU..
The Orange Box doesn't contain a CS:S licence. There is no "HL3" yet because Valve have been trying episodic content (Orange box contains the first two episodes). Personally I feel the episodes have taken way too long to develop but they're certainly faster than the gap between Doom2 and Doom3 :P.

id didn't make Quake4 or Quake Wars they were made by Raven and Splash Damage. John Carmack is also famous for his "when it's done" comment and has also commented on the technical limitations of the PS3 in the past (such as having less available texture memory than the 360).
Gabe Newell isn't biased against the PS3, he just recognised it for what it was - a pointlessly overcomplicated machine to develop for. The fact is, Sony doesn't have the sales lead this generation and both the 360 and the Wii are far easier to code for. Hence, you're getting shoddy ports and developers aren't willing to put in the extra effort to learn the latest Sony kit.

Sony have also treated the consumer like a complete idiot throughout the whole run up and release of the console, so I for one won't be filling their coffers. I may even go and buy one of those HD-DVD add-ons for my 360 - I hear they come with six free movies now ;)
Its worth noting that most sales figures are total rubbish, facts and figures from the developers are usually units sold to retailers, not to the end user.

The second thing and by far the more important, Wii sales are only down almost world wide because retailers cant get ahold of the damn things for love nor money, The company i work for with over 600 stores sells out in mere hours each delivery.
While it would be neat if HL2 ran flawlessly on the PS3, anyone who really wanted to play HL2 (read as 'pay for it') already did so when the game was released on PC, uhm... 3 years ago!

The game is getting rather long in the tooth and while it still looks pretty darn good, I don't think many PS3 gamers really give a crap about it. FPS are really the PC's stronghold.

I am part of the new wave of people who recently bought a PS3 after Sony's price cuts and I already have the Orange Box on PC (still unopened)... I think I only bought it for an extra CS:S license...

If anyone specifically bought a PS3 for HL2 then they must be... slow.
The only thing Sony needs to do to make PS3 owners happy is GET GRAN TURISMO HD OUT !!!
(and GTAIV with any extra content)

As for HL2 and Gabe... where is HL3, where is a new Counter-Strike experience?
Id sft. had Quake 4 out in no time after Doom 3 and now Quake Wars... Valve is a pretty lax group of devs imho...
"Gabe Newell's obvious biased against the PS3 i wouldn't be surprised if any flaws are by design or just halfassed work because of that bias."

The PS3 Orange Box port is being handled by EA, not VALVe.

And, "You also fail to mention Team Fortress plays perfectly fine"

When it's stated in the article that they didn't even get to play TF2 due to a server connection issue.

So far, the only game that they COULD play without any issues was Portal. Which is an awesome game by itself anyways.
Haven't played it and don't really care cause if you want the best experience with valve products you buy a good PC but given Gabe Newell's obvious biased against the PS3 i wouldn't be surprised if any flaws are by design or just halfassed work because of that bias.
I notice you fail to mention 2 crucial points:

1/ 1UP were reviewing pre-release code, and therefore any conclusions are purely speculation at this point, and therefore the new page title is total BS at best.

2/ You also fail to mention Team Fortress plays perfectly fine, and even twist this into "Framerate is a consistent issue throughout the Half-Life series of games included in The Orange Box"

Fanboys indeed. Come back when the game is released..

For example. If you managed to get ahold of the pre-release version of Ratchet And Clank Future Tools Of Destruction, that Gamestop were giving away in the US, you would have seen noticable tearing and framerate issues, the final game however is totally different, infact the best looking and smoothest game I have ever seen, on ANY system..

Whilst it could be simply a case of ex-Microsoft exployee Valve's Gabe Newell sabotaging the game (possible, but unlikely), or it could be that EA are upto their usual sloppy tricks, it's certainly too early to tell.

Lets wait till the game is out in retail, and THEN decide. Lets hope idiots like you lot don't end up with egg on your face..
