SMILEY FACED FIRM LG has announced that Street Fighter IV will make its Android debut on its app store.
The game is made by legendary company Capcom and will appear on LG World in the fourth quarter. The game will be in high definition to coincide with the launch of LG's first HD smartphone.
Dr Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG said, "As we prepare our first HD smartphone for launch, it was important for us to be able to offer HD content that would really demonstrate this phone's benefits. The HD version of Street Fighter certainly fills this objective. We are also confident that LG's soon-to-be-unveiled HD display technology will give Street Fighter fans a whole new reason to play the game again."
The Street Fighter series first appeared on arcade screens back in 1987 and has since been ported to almost every platform you can think of. Street Fighter IV has been around since 2008 but is yet to be available for Android users.
The most recent version of the game appeared on Nintendo's 3DS handheld console. The version included an over the shoulder style 'dynamic' viewing mode and was, of course, in 3D glory.
Yoshinori Ishida, an executive at Capcom said, "We very much look forward to expanding the legacy of Street Fighter to the Android platform through this partnership with LG." µ
