SOFTWARE DEVELOPER Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 8 will integrate Xbox Live, taking Xbox gaming to the PC.
Rumours had been doing the rounds that Microsoft will finally bring the Xbox Live matchmaking service to its upcoming Windows 8 operating system. Microsoft finally confirmed those rumours at its Build conference yesterday, saying that Xbox Live will bring games, movies and music to Windows 8.
Microsoft is also demonstrating to developers at Build how to code games that use Xbox Live on Windows 8.
PC gaming has been in the doldrums for many years with games consoles getting ever more powerful and ultimately embracing multi-player internet gaming. For Microsoft, Xbox Live has been an unmitigated success and its appearance on Windows was more a matter of when rather than if.
Whether Xbox Live will reinvigorate PC gaming remains to be seen, but it will certainly give Valve's Steam a run for its money. Much like Xbox Live, Steam has become extremely successful, with many publishers using the service to deliver games, and it recently has added support for Sony's Playstation 3.
With Microsoft rejigging Xbox Live's interface to Metro, then Windows Phone 7, Windows 8 and its Xbox console will all share the same interface for Xbox Live. The familiarity combined with any exclusive publishing deals Microsoft signs might be enough to take some wind out of Steam. µ

just another thing for microsoft to fail at. there is a reason why people buy macs because microsoft HAS, and NEVER will know what they are doing. they only think they do :P
No Thanks...
First fix your PoS GFWL client for windows...you can't backup save games? Ridicoulous!
You need trickery finding the GFWL folder & stuff in user directory wtf & then copy the game saves too!
Steam does it all.
Not to mention Steam accepts multiple payment types like paypal etc.
Xbox Live? I don't want you to store my friggin card number MS & I don't want to buy POINTS then buy games through POINTS.
That's the dumbest shit ever.
You gonna get Steam-ROLLED all the way!
Who needs Win8 anyway btw it looks & feels just like Win7 atm minus the Metro GAY UI
I WAS WONDERING WHEN I WOULD EVER BE ABLE TO GET GAMES, MUSIC, AND VIDEO ON A WINDOWS COMPUTER.
THANKS MICRO SOFT FOR FINALLY LISTENING TO YOUR BOSSES, THE CUSTOMORS.
