LG pre-loads Angry Birds on Optimus smartphones

Optimus primed for must-have mobile game

SOME SAVVY WAG at LG has stumbled upon the great idea of pre-loading the Angry Birds game on the incoming Optimus series of smartphones.

The move is a smart one and will save phone users from having to spend time downloading the application themselves through a series of clicks and taps. It is unlikely to encourage people to buy the handset just for that reason, but its undoubtedly going to be a sweetener for those already heading in that direction.

On board will be Angry Birds Rio, the version of the game released to coincide with less-than-hilarious exotic-bird-gone-awry animated movie Rio.

"We're thrilled to expose the millions of LG customers across the world to the fun and exciting world of Angry Birds Rio," said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio.

"With more than 20 million downloads to date, Angry Birds Rio's launch has been our most successful ever, and by pre-loading the game on high-performance LG Android smartphones worldwide, we look forward to even more success in the future."

Angry Birds is not just a success, it is a phenomenon, and the first LG Optimus smartphones to include it will start to leave the nest later this year. µ
