ANGRY BIRDS won the awards for Best Game and App of the Year at the Appy Awards last night, confirming its role all over the world as one of the most addictive ways to throw birds at pigs.
The game, created by Rovio, won the top slots after 30,000 people voted for their favourite apps in different categories. Winning Best Game is no surprise, but App of the Year really cements the game as one of the last year's major app achievements.
A spokesperson for Rovio, Oona Hilkamo, said, "It's been just amazing. First of all winning the public vote for best game and then afterwards the judges decided for us to be app of the year. It's been a great year for us."
Winners in the other eight categories included Ebay Fashion for Best Fashion, Amazon for Best Lifestule, Skype for Best Money Saving, Spotify for Best Music, Adobe Photoshop for Best Photography, Sky Sports News for Best Sport, Google Maps for Best Time Saver, Facebook for Best Time Waster, and Trip Adviser for Best Travel.
We imagine the game would have won by an even greater majority if people hadn't been too busy loading their catapults with some rather upset birds. µ
