THE MOBILE GAMING FORCE of animated nature, Angry Birds is dominating the Playstation network, having won over one million gamers since January.

The game has been a considerable success on all of the operating systems it has touched and the the Sony Playstation Network (PSN) has proven itself to be as comfortable a nest as any.

According to a research brief by Lazard Capital Markets and seen by game industry website Industry Gamers, Angry Birds has been downloaded a million times since it was launched in January, making it more popular on Sony's PSN than just about every other game out there.

"PSN appears to be gaining traction tapping into the casual and social gaming market with titles such as Angry Birds which is the most downloaded game through the PSN (it was launched in January 2011). PSN is also seeing good success with freemium/microtransaction models," said Lazard Capital Markets' Colin Sebastian, as he suggested that Sony's biggest sellers were also its cheapest.

The game pitches angry birds against egg stealing pigs, and is very playable. It is available on IOS, Maemo, WebOS, Android, Symbian, PSN, Windows, Mac OS X and, when paid for, costs around £1. µ
