Sandisk gives Xbox 360 gamers' saved games mobility

Let the bonus content impress your friends
Wed May 05 2010, 14:51

XBOX 360 GAMERS can now save and go with their gamertags, saved game progress, map packs, arcade game downloads and bonus content on licensed 8GB and 16GB USB flash drives from Sandisk.

Just in case you're a fanboy whose Xbox 250GB external drive is not big enough, Sandisk's 8GB and 16GB drives have suggested retail prices of £29.99 and £51.99, respectively. They are designed to transfer that key gaming data between Xbox 360 consoles, but nothing else apparently.

The plug and play drives are such good value that to sweeten the deal Sandisk feels the need to give away a one-month Xbox Live Gold membership for non-members and members alike.

According to Sandisk the drive "eliminates the need to format storage or download an initial software update" for a console, or ever emerge from the fantasy world of your choice, one would imagine. µ

Any flash drive will work

There is no need to buy a licensed flash drive. Any flash drive should work. That is what makes this XBox Update so special.

Microsoft simply recommends a licensed flash drive because they guarantee they will work since they have been explicitly tested for compatibility. The SanDisk flash drives are pre-configured, but you can configure any Flash drive (as described at the link below), and the XBox 360 will make up to 16GB of it available.
