Portal 2 for Steam

But are Mac rumours hot air or fact?

FreemanGAMES OUTFIT Valve, the company behind the popular Half Life and Portal games, has been busy the last few weeks dropping hints about the next version of the latter.

Portal 2, which promises to be a mind and gravity bending sequel to the puzzle game that first appeared on the crowd-pleasing Orange Box package, has been confirmed for Steam, the online game hosting marketplace, but now the rumour mill suggests that a Mac version will also appear.

Valve is adding fuel to this fire with a number of teaser ads for the sequel, one of which offers a turn on the "I'm a PC / I'm a Mac" advertisements we have come to know and loathe, whle another takes a spin on the two-tone Ipod ads.

According to Gameinformer, where the next issue includes a big splash on the game, the game will have a co-op mode. Macrumours has got its eyes on scans of the mag in question, which includes a list of supported platforms. Nestling alongside XBox 360 and PC is a Mac option.

Portal 2 will be out in time for Christmas. µ

Linux Ubuntu support

I wish they would support Linux/Ubuntu as well ... I loved the initial Portal, but have since switched to Ubuntu, and have no intention of ever going back to Windows. I wish more game developers in general would support Linux gaming.
