Google delays Yahoo plan
US regulators want more time to think about it
GOOGLE HAS DELAYED its online advertising tie-up with Yahoo to allow more time for US anti-trust regulators to mull over if it will sue both search outfits into a coma for considering the deal.
In an official statement from Googantua HQ, the outfit said that when it announced its advertising agreement with Yahoo in June it agreed to delay its implementation until October to give regulators time to look at the details.
Apparently since the DoJ is still having a quiet word with Google about the deal, the search outfit has agreed to hold off the partnership while the discussions continue.
As the US economy has imploded, it might be that politicians and regulators are in no mood to turn a blind eye to anti-trust problems and Google does not want to take any risks.
Rob Enderle of Enderle group told AFP that any hook up between Google and Yahoo is going to create a lockout monopoly and regulators are not going to have a sense of humour about it.
Outfits making shedloads of cash do not want to antagonise any of the regulators these days, he sagely said. µ
