NOVATECH, THE UK e-tailer is already flogging i7 kit to the masses.

According to the company’s site, you can buy a “Novatech Smackdown motherboard” bundle based on the X58 chipset coupled with either an i7 920 or 940 and three sticks of 1GB DDR3 1066. There’s a catch… it costs an arm and a leg.

But hold on…

Over the course of the afternoon, the Novatech bundle was price-jacked. We took notice of the happening this evening but we were still catching our breath from AMD’s announcement, so when we got round to providing you, our dear readers, with the heads-up, the price had been jacked up by precisely £100 (+VAT). Yes, inflation is on the rise in Core i7-land. From an already juicy and plump £652 price tag, the i7 940 bundle now rests on the £762.58 shelf. Unfortunately we didn’t do a screen cap at the time of the price jacking, and Google cache itself didn’t register the page…

You can always try their i7 920 bundle that’s “just” £539.33… that means they’re charging, right now, £223.25 for the extra 266MHz.
