Vote XBox 360
Ultimate election gimmick
STARTING THIS PAST MONDAY, Americans can use their Xbox Live service to register to vote in the upcoming presidentials. The initiative, jointly developed by Microsoft and Rock the Vote is supposed to tap into the 12-million large Xbox Live community and draw the couch potato crowd to participate in the so-called “democratic process”, or something like that.
Rock the Vote is a youth-oriented organisation that mixes pop culture with politics to attract people to politics. RtV had previously premiered on-line and phone voter registration, but doing it on the Xbox 360 sounds so much more avant-garde and cool.
"The Xbox Live community is active, vocal and passionate," gushed Marc Whitten at Xbox Live HQ. It is, especially if they can gather in teams and blow stuff up. Let’s just hope people register with their real names and not their handles. It’d be a bit strange if the odd 20,000 or so players with “MasterChief” in their names were to do that…
The Xbox Live community was compared to being the “seventh largest state in the country”, equivalent to owning about 20 electoral votes – which, of course, it isn’t. 12 million is the total number of Live users worldwide.
La Vole’s console will also be present at both GOP and Democrat conventions where attendees will be able to watch the voter registration system in action. We guess it’ll also let people work off some of that frustration for not coming first in the primaries.
Maybe Hillary will get some satisfaction after all… µ

Rock the Vote
is nothing but a front organization for the socialist, I mean Democrat party. Bill gates is evidentially a liberal hack for them. If like other socialist, I mean Democrat strategies I expect game characters will be casting their vote for Mr. Hussein. Like in the past dead people were voting for Kerry and that eejit Gore. Democrat hacks were caught red handed doing it.Willy Gates is Repub.
Contrary to the above commenter Sir William Gates is a prominent Republican. I'm not arguing the fact that Rock the Vote is aimed at bringing the liberal youth into the democratic process, but Republican youths (Orange County High School Grads) are also urged to "Rock the Vote."
