Iphone dropped calls a global problem
German chipset could be the culprit
REPORTS OF DROPPED CALLS from Iphone users have been causing problems at Apple since the launch of the handset everyone wants to emulate.
The problem occurs mainly when users are on the move and the connections attempts to switch between cells, or from 3G to another flavour of network.
Most commentators have been pointing the finger at networks, but the latest report from Yahoo News shifts the blame onto the shoulders of chipset manufacturer Infineon Technologies.
The German company supplies the chips which are supposed to make switches between connection seamless.
According to un-named sources 'familiar with the matter', Apple is working on a software fix along with airtime providers but the problem could turn out to be hardware related.
And if that's the case (it's pretty unlikely but still possible) we can look forward to a hardware recall from Apple.
Whether your average Apple fanboy will be able to part with his beloved Second Coming of the Iphone, even though the phone bit doesn't actually work properly, remains to be seen. µ

No Chance
Course the fanbois won't be able to part with their beloved eyefone, they locate them right up next to their sphincta so their only choice is to get them surgically removed ;0)bad news
as much as I don't really like the iPhone, this is bad news to hear. To those that are having problems, I can't imagine what you're going through.....no, I really can't.Huh??
Okay, I have owned an iPhone for two weeks now and have made dozens of phone calls and have not once experienced a dropped call.Is this just another "I hate Apple no matter what" article? How about writing something positive about the iPhone. For instance, I first had bought a Verizon Dare phone, but after two weeks of test driving the phone, it was plainly clear it was inferior in just about every way when compared to the iPhone. Okay, the Dare had one feature that the iPhone doesn't have yet - voice calling. This is coming very soon from Apple as an add-on application called iSpeak. Download the Fonix iSpeak software spec sheet here:

In essence, not only will this application enable voice calling, but more importantly voice commanding of the iPhone itself. Now that's what I'm talking about!
Ah, but don't let me try to fool the readers here - I am NOT an Apple lover. I will never give up my PC for a MAC, so that should be proof enough that I'm not an Apple fanboy :D
2.0.2. Firmware TODAY!
We are working on some bugs which affect around 2% of the iPhones shipped, and hope to have a software update soon.Steve
Interesting
Perhaps an EU case looming? Apple are already under scrutiny there on other grounds!
