Coppers investigate Ebay seller collapse
Wot's all this then, cobber?
INSPECTOR KNACKER of the Down Under Yard is having a look into the case of the spectacular collapse of one of the biggest Aussie Ebay sellers.
EBS International, which flogged exercise gear, furniture and bikes on Ebay under the name ebusiness-supplies, left hundreds of users out of pocket to the tune of hundreds of thousands of Aussie dollars.
Ebay has been slammed for not moving fast enough to remove the company's account. Punters had been complaining about EBS since 2006. EBS International went into administration on Friday.
Now fraud copper Detective Senior Constable Michelle Cavanagh said she was waiting for advice from the liquidator to determine whether any criminality was involved.
It is hard to see that there can be nothing worth investigating. In the three months before its collapse the company sold AUS $1 million worth of gear, none of which was delivered. Mysteriously the directors of the outfit moved to China.
They have told liquidators that the company collapsed because an agent in China took the company's money without delivering goods. µ
