Tobacco to treat cancer

Culprit offers cure

A RECENT STUDY published by Stanford University in California produced one of the most unexpected cures for a type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma – the tobacco plant.

US scientists have been working to produce, or rather ‘grow’ key components of a cancer vaccine.

The plants are used as factories for an antibody chemical specific to the cells which form this variety of the disease. These antibodies are then put into a newly-diagnosed patient to ‘prime’ the body’s defense against the disease. If this is successful the patient's body should be able to recognise and destroy the cancerous cells.

Dr Ronald Levy, who’s leading this research, said "It’s pretty cool technology – and it’s really ironic that you would make a treatment for cancer out of tobacco. That appealed to me."

It also appeals to cancer patients, and their bank balance, as using plants is far more cost-effective than other options as well as being chemical free.

Attempts have been made to grow these antibodies inside animal cells, however this is a risky business as these cells could hold unknown viruses. The tobacco plant is then – ironic as it may – be the most appealing option for treating this disease.

So far, the experimental vaccine is only at test stage, but here’s rooting for the tobacco plant in fighting what it caused.

smoking treatment?

It would be really funny if it turns out they'll be able to transmit the active principle by cigarette.... or more exotic alternatives.

No chemicals?

Plants don't include chemicals?

Wait

I thought it wasn't the tabacco that gets you, rather all the crap chemicals added?

Like walking down a road isn't bad, but smoking the tar in it is?

People Whom FOOL Themselves?

This is more article about Sadist whom Wishes Your undoing, With BIG Name: Nicotine.

Nicotine is Poison. It creates White Blood Cells from Healthy Tissue, at best.

Oxygen is ShoeMoo better cure for prenacious forgien bodies. with exercise & 'stilled water, plenty o' sleep & vitamine/antibiotic cocktails, than ANY Amount of Poison.ADD Bunch o'Sunshine (Solar Radiation) Too.

Health is NOT poetic Glob, It is interaction of Chemicals, NO More. Giving wrong info under disquise of Science is Murderous.Even small intentional inaccuracies, like NYT article on mirrors, makes gob out of physics. Wondering on distance to half image is Good, Reporting Wrong numbers is BAD. Reporting False Cures is ILLEGAL.

EVERYTHING is a chemical

"using plants is far more cost-effective than other options as well as being chemical free"

Since every element is a "chemical", this must mean these are special plants, made from dark energy.

Tobacco the plant is very good

From a bio tech point of view, the Tobacco plant is very good for being modified, and cross bred.

This has nothing to do with the Tobacco you smoke, but rather the plants ability to be adapted.

Heh

I think the idea behind using tobacco is that any virus in plant cells is unlikely to jump species to humans.

"as well as being chemical free." is probably a hat tip to cytotoxic chemotherapy, a process that can be akin to firebombing a city to deal with a small number of people hiding in it.

And hell yes, the irony is delicious (almost as good as a hot cheeseburger and a smoke at the same time ; )

Yes

Luis,

As you posited, Luis, yes, plants (and you and all of us) contain chemicals. It is a bit cheaper/more elegant to have a plant make them for you, however. Yes, I am all for chemicals. They do work for me, but not all of them.

Chuck them

Anyone who states that something is 'chemical free' is obviously oddly educated.

Just to put Emma straight - everything is made from a combination of chemicals.

From Viruses to Elephants, from microphytes to macrophytes. (That's Algae to the Giant Red Wood Tree).

Tobacco is a plant and as such it has hundreds of chemicals in it, all natural. Some are toxic. IIRC it has over 400 combinations of chemicals in it.

Hope for cancer prevention

is always a good thing, yet I can't help but think that smokers are still going to fill their lungs with tar and nicotine - and that cannot be good in the long run anyway.

When Stupidity Meets Dumbness

When a human operates fully on his futuristic meanderings, intellectualising, he becomes stupid [a contradiction it seems but only because most humans have yet to sift out true intelligence from mere intellect] and when he is fully into his past, emoting, he becomes dumb. He then just wishes that everything is done for him, including his toiletry chores . . . please ... there, just there …. ahhh … that’s better … I’m afraid that you’ll have to flush it away now … please ..

This confusion lead to “evidencials” of, say, “smoking is good because it exercises the lung muscles”, sort of observtions – statistics is the realm of the partially sighted. When a person is blind to his duty but focuses his choice onto mundane things like desires and control instead, his minds are working 101% ….. and this is the cause of ALL his problems. Including cancer or the sort of, “cutting my arm during certain times of the day without fail and then wondering where the cuts are coming from during mental lulls”, conditions/illnesses/illusory-episodes. [“Yo, what about the innocents like infants, children … eh?, clever dickie” … “Realise what duty means and your true freedom will be more approachable”]

Because humans/all-within-Nature do-not/cannot create energy, nobody owns anything or else we get to keep it indefinitely. Those which cannot think [in essence and not merely “ooo-ahh-ahh”-ing whilst displaying tricks/tasks] perform their duty without questioning but those who can, are given the opportunity to evolve on their own volition. That’s the reason why we have thoughts and animals don’t [NO, dear tree-stump rightie, they cannot think for when they try to do so, all they’ll get are shades of grey followed by an instinctual/truly-intelligent response]. That within Nature that cannot think can only evolve AFTER they are dead whereas those who can think can only evolve WHILST they are alive. The duty of a human/thinkers is to evolve – to take the choice for their true freedom [from their minds].

How stupid and dumb can an entity be when after he had damaged himself [and/or others], to then seek “cures” from pills, butchery and blind faith [of religion or science]. Our two horns” of stupidity and dumbness. Prevention is greater than cure because one is of/for true intelligence and the other, for our emotive-physique-intellect. Loving ourself [and thence others] means not harming our Self – first - and not being saviours/immortality-bankers. True intelligence is what you are due for. How so? Because Nature/Love never makes a single mistake in Her quest for Evolution whereas Devolution is ALL about our errors and addiction to errors. [And “No”, this is not a tech-only journal. That’s an illusion of your dumbness and stupidity for everyting is inter-related which is why oxygen, say, has no boundaries.]
