Atom based eee pc tips up

Costs its weight in gold

JUNE THIRD IS THE launch date of the Asus’s new Atom-based Eee PC 901, which will also have Bluetooth for the first time.

The company will apparently be selling the new 8.9 inch model for slightly less than $650, which is fairly expensive considering its new, 10-inch rival, MSI's Wind, sells for $250 cheaper.

Even worse news for Asus is that MSI Wind has purportedly said that it will be releasing its new Atom-based offering running Linux on the exact same day.

But Asus says that its new model will have features that make it stand out from its competitors, including the new Bluetooth module and sticking some metal bits to the keyboard and touchpad. Apart from that, everything else is pretty much the same, apparently.

The only other change is that the Linux version of the tiny laptop will be getting more software apps bunged into it. We can't say whether the changes merit the price difference, really, but the proof will be in the pud-eee-ng. µ

Actually...

I wish people would get their sayings right. The proof is in the *eating*, not the damn pudding!! You'll be telling us that "money is the route of all evil..." *sigh*.

Proof of the pudding is in the eating

How do you prove pudding? You eat it!

But you cannot eat your pudding and have it too.

Confusing dilemma.. and now look, my ears are bleeding..

@ Mr Pedant

Quote it properly dear, "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" actually.

@Mr. Pedant

Actually, Mr. Pedant, you made an error about an error. The phrase is,"Money is the root of all evil," as in the root of a tree. It's a parable, if the root of a tree is sick, than the tree, or Church is sick. But even that's a error, because the Bible says that money is the root of many kinds of evil, not all evil.

Finally, some competition

The EeePC 901 is hugely overpriced because, until the Wind came along, there was no competition and Asus could charge what the market would allow. Of course, the EeePC was falsely announced to cost only $199 before it was actually released, so who knows what the actual price of the Wind will be.

Sigh...

Erm... the proof is what is revealed, not the act of revealing it, so the proof is actually a property of the pudding and not of the act of eating of it.

And er... I think the saying is actually 'money is the _root_ of all evil'.

Mr Pedant was correct

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil" 1 Timothy 6:10

Thank god someone got it

@Anon:
Thank god someone finally got Mr Pedant's joke/point. My brain was about to dribble out of my ears if this discussion had become any more moronic.
