New York court upholds mobile ban in schools

Guns and knives still ok

A NEW YORK appeals court has decided to stick with a decision to ban kids from bringing mobile phones to school, and blames the parents.

Justice Angela Mazzarelli wrote as part of the unanimous opinion to uphold the ban, "If adults cannot be fully trusted to practice proper cell phone etiquette, then neither can children".

But neurotic parents who want to know where their children are at every waking moment, say that they’ll continue to pester the legal system with their collective parental hysteria, even if they have to go to New York’s highest court to appeal the ban again.

The judges reckoned that their decision shouldn’t be seen as being “unsympathetic” to the neurosis (or, sorry, concern) of parents trying to get in touch with their children, but that it should be seen as a measure to stop the little delinquents from cheating on exams, snapping rude phone cam pics of schoolmates in changing rooms etc.

Although parents are claiming that the ruling infringes on their constitutional rights, judges disagree, There is, after all, nothing in the US constitution about the right to keep and bear phones. Bringing guns and knives to school is fine, but phones? Far too disruptive.

Parents, justifiably terrified by the US record for school shoot ups, will probably try to argue that mobile phones are essential for warning students in the event that psychotic trench coated killers go on jock killing spree rampages through their school cafeteria, but city lawyers are ready for them. We have it on good authority that students will now be taught to fire machine pistols in morse code to alert security forces in times of emergency. µ

Idiotic parents

Sheesh, what did we ever do before the days of wireless leashes attached to our children? Shouldn't the parents assume that their kids are in, you know, school? If not, it *is* disruptive to hear a phone ring during class, grade school or college. I know I've wanted to put a bullet in the head of some dude who was texting people during a movie. They should extend the ban to movie theatres as well.

As for school shootings, the last thing we need is mass panic due to kids getting calls from their parents about some incident. Plus, all classrooms will have a phone of some sort if there is any emergency, and kids can grab their phones from their lockers so they can have it when going home.

More pointless law's to limit the freedom of Americans.

In Australia they have total Ban on all Guns and knives now even Laser pointers are hit with a total ban. With fines and prison time for all three if found in possession it make people feel that little bit safer when in public area's or school's. I'm sick of the line " Guns don’t kill people, People kill people " Sure Battle Tank's or Nuke's don’t kill people either but they sure make it allot easier too.
Americans can rest easy now that those deadly mobile phones wont be hurting kid's in schools, If only Phones had lobbyists just like the guns do. Then someone higher up will receive a "donation" coff Pay off coff" to stop this law from coming into fruition.
