MS confirms XP SP3 delivery date

Old OS prepares to wobble off into the sunset

AS WE predicted last month, Service Pack 3 for Windows XP tips up in a couple of weeks.

The last mega patch for the venerable old OS will be available to OEMs on April 21st and through Windows Update from April 29th.

It won't be an automatic update until June 10th, giving sysadmins time to get their acts together. µ

sp3 is already loose

it's already out there, on the M$ download site. oh and version 3311 (the one that gives you the BSOD) is there on the manual download, [the automatic download is ok(so far)] and it comes without warnings either.
just be ready to stuff the windows cd in to get into repair mode to change the broken version of gdi32.dll it installs.

instructions are at : http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/index.cfm?action=showthread&threadid=322651&forumid=1

Not too bad, unless you have never used DOS, (you do remember DOS don't you) (you have used it, have'nt you???) and you got a MSCE as well, just shows how worthless the M$$ tax is, does'nt it :)

April 29th?

Don't they know that every SysAdmin in the known universe is busy that day? It's GTA IV release day.

Build #5508 or newer?

The latest XP SP3 build version showing on various torrent sites is: build 5508. Is the "final version" build number known?

Was, Will be & Always

Up to yesterday Microsoft was still claiming on its websites that Xp SP3 will be released in second week of April. This NEW Date is bugger for those selling XP Home w/SP3 for $129. Right now.
HAHAHA, ahhhh. Todays available version is More way to Avoid Activation by Simply having entire O/S go Blank. Then Recycle,Reboot reload & go Blank Again.
YOU CAN DO THAT AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT.

sysadmins nearly right

sysadmins will mostly have completed it, having downloaded it from bit torrent sites, and playing it to death before the release day

the whole point is that they can they smugly say to everyone else, oh u have just got it? I have already completed it, yeah got it weeks ago......

thats the perk of beind sysadmin
