AMD CTO Phil Hester resigns
No replacement named
PHIL HESTER, CTO of AMD has resigned with no immediate replacement set, the Wall St Journal announced.
A highly regarded industry figure, Hester worked at Big Blue for 23-years before joining Little Green 2005.
A Little Green spokesman told the Journal that Hestor's departure was nothing to do with the recent job cuts or anything like that.
But that's the sort of thing spinners are paid to say isn't it? µ

Another one bites the dustAnd another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
So a pretty typical day at AMD i guess!
Good riddance
What took AMD so long? Hester presided over the ATI acquisition debacle, failed to deliver Barcelona, started and killed several projects, drove Stexar out of business, spoke loud and long about the wonderful future but did nothing to deliver it, alienated most of the technical staff at AMD, and delivered absolutely zero in his time at AMD. A master technologist? No. A master corporate politician and marketeer? Hardly. And we're supposed to believe that he left without any hand on his collar showing him the door? Hmph.
