Apple unveils Iphone plan for world domination

Business or bust

APPLE TOLD some chums from the press yesterday that it would be going after Blackberry by making the Iphone into more of a business gadget.

Apple will use Microsoft Exchange for managing contacts, email and calendaring and the like, the firm said.

And, having bricked and squealed at folk who fiddled with their Iphones, the plastic toy maker has now unveiled software development kits and the like to allow third parties to stick stuff on the gadget.

The big idea, according to the Wall Street Journal is to make the Iphone platform a sort of Windows for phones. To this end, Apple has lined up a deep-pocketed venture capital firm to help set up a $100 million fighting fund known as the iFund, apparently.

One VC at Apple's new mate Kleiner Perkins reckoned the deal is a really big one. "It's bigger than the personal computer," he burbled.

Funny how you can be worth a few million and still not have a clue. µ

spelling (C-)

Good ol' coprolalic, flame-chap: you still cannot spell iPhone...
cheers!

AT adds: Inq house style states that we ignore idiotic capitalisations in names and use the proper English rule of a capitalised first letter.
If people like aPple (sic) want to be stupid, that's up to them, but don't expect us to repeat their vile barbarisms.

A simple question, really.

I do beg the pardon of his majestic, the editor, and all Inquirer peers...

If I may be so bold as to ask about the whereaboots of one: Nick Farrell.

I've not seen the likes of him.

I do hope that he is not on the LAM from the Knacker twins over to Scotland Yard, again. I recall someone having a problem about writing bad cheques on their EGG card account. That sounds about like the poser. Pity that he didn't get a leg up on that Cash In The Attic action.

Well as long as he's in Cognito, he couldn't very well mind if some bloke masqueraded and absconded after the Apple were nicked.

Iphone Plan?

This is great! I can't stop laughing at what the plan is.
I think people are starting to see that apple is not the thing to have, in less you like making someone richer with your money and getting very little in return. OH they are going to let you make software for there phone? I have to see the limits on this. It ought to be a blast.

OK you lose the looks.

Pretty much any HTC and the Nokia 8GB (among lots of others) blows the iPhone out the water. Why are we still talking about this 3G-less rubbish anyway.

Business people don't mind paying high data rates and want fast 'internet' anywhere, they do not want to be confined to wi-fi hotspots.

2 steps

this is step 1 of a 2-step stratagem

the next step is release a phone with 3g, gps, voice recognition, blu ray and bluetooth, probably mid-year

thinner and cooler looking

these recent comments from apple are only step 1

world domination is a stretch, but the trend is to smart phones and this will be one of the better ones out there
