RED-FACED cable outfit Comcast has admitted to hiring a rent-a-mob to make sure that people who attended a meeting on net neutrality sang from the same hymn sheet.

The idea of the meeting at Harvard University was that normal people should get the chance to meet FCC delegates who are thinking of fining Comcast because of it's anti-net neutrality stance.

But the FCC was a little surprised when 'Harvard students' appeared to support the measure and indeed there were calls for Comcast to be paid lots of money for being such a nice company.

It did not take long for the reason to be made obvious. Knowing its view's on bandwidth throttling might be about as popular as an airstrike at a Taliban wedding it decided to pay for an audience of its own to make sure that its views appeared to be supported by the great unwashed.

While anti-Comcast protesters, and journalists who might ask tricky questions, were locked outside the public meeting. Their seats were taken by Comcast staff and paid hangers on applauded their company's stance.

After Savetheinternet.com posted snaps of the staff members arriving and the rent-a-mob being paid up, Comcast admitted that it had stacked the meeting.

However it said that it had only done so because an anti-Comcast group called Free Press urged its backers to attend. µ
