Samsung P10 catches fire
How can we sleep when our beds are burning?
SHOULD YOU BE reading this on a Samsung P10 laptop you might want to re-think having it on your lap.
Samsung Officials have investigated the strange case of a P10 which emitted smoke after being left on a pillow for three hours.
Firefighters rushed, because they never walk, to the scene just in time to see the bed catch on fire. By the time they put out the fire there was much smoke damage and the floor was a little charred.
The laptop, which was made in 2002, was getting on a bit but Samsung does not know why it went the way of crispy bacon.
A company spokesperson told PC world that it was checking a few details of the incident before it makes a public statement.
Batteries are known to get a bit iffy if left in sleeping mode, last month one from LG exploded when its owner left it unattended. However my old laptop used to get a bit hot if you left it on a pillow too. Something to do with the daft idea of sticking the vents on the bottom.

I picked that lyric reference up right away, but whoa a "Midnight Oil" reference from almost 20 years back....yes I'm a music geek
Heh ... I thought the subtitle read:
How can we Bleep when our beds are burning? ;)Sure
Of course it's not exactly intelligent to put a laptop on a pillow for hours, but it's something some people are bound to do and the thing should have systems that compensate for that.Thermal throttles are simple.
Um, get a dell...
Yea, if my dell powers down due to 'exceeding thermal parameters' and then it tells you your an egg-head when it is powered back on and simply asks that you press F1 to continue or press F2 if you blame your computer for your own stupidity...gawd ppl, think!
