You might also recognize him from his old company Ximian, since acquired by Novell. Miguel was gracious enough to sit down with us for another in the Inquirer Deep Probing Interview series. We thank him for taking the time from his busy schedule to enlighten us.

Inq: Why did you name your biggest project after an infectious disease?

Miguel: Because I am Mexican and in Spanish, Mono means monkey.

In the end, I am not sure I buy that explanation, but due to the extreme length of the interview and our tight schedules, I could not probe this any farther. It will no doubt be a topic for much discussion and debate among the epidemiology groups I hang out in for years to come. µ
