THE VOLE has received a writ from another software company which alleges Microsoft has stolen SQL code.

Maplewood Software claims it was commissioned by Microsoft to develop one unit of a SQL database used in a Volish build tool called SNAP (shiny new automation process, yeah really).

The Tuple database Maplewood built, which is copyrighted as TX 6,496,877 forms one half of Microsoft’s SNAP system.

But, alleged Maplewood, it learnt in February 2006 that Microsoft has turned its code over to an internal development team, and using it to devise products including the Windows operating system.

Further, a book by former Microsoft employee Vincent Maraia called The Build Master, describes the use of the Maplewood code internally.

So Maplewood is suing the Vole for copyright infringements for using its code without permission. µ
