Dell backpedals on AMD
Confused itself
DELL APPEARS TO have backpedalled in a hurry about selling AMD on the web. Between the time that the article went up and the majority of the world crawled to consciousness, Dell changed the page.
Friday was spent in damage control mode for both companies, and it seems they did a complete 180, if the removal was ever their intention in the first place. Call us overly skeptical, but you don't make a full page that comes up when you search for "AMD" on Dell by accident.
Dell posted a snippet on its Direct to Dell bog claiming it was still flogging an AMD-based Energy Star 4.0 Inspiron 531 on Dell.com.
"Dell also sells a -full- range of AMD-powered business notebooks, desktops and servers online," says the posting. The strikethrough is Dell's, not ours. Suggesting it hasn't a clue what it is up to.
"We are committed to the AMD product lines as a long-term partner to provide the maximum choice for our customers," it adds. So that's ok then. µ
