Intel preps 2GHz Celeron - report

Oooh, the excitement mounts

INTEL HAS plans to deliver a 2GHz dual core Celeron processor some time in the next few months, according to the folk at hkepc.com

The E1400 Celery is just like the current E1200 but runs a bit quicker and no doubt a bit hotter.

It looks like it'll be priced at $53 and the E1200 will either drop in price or be disappeared.

All the excitement is here. µ

Intel preps 2GHz Celeron - report

Well this news may or may not get you excited. But If AMD has only the low end market as Intel has the rest of the market covered. This news is not good for AMD .

Phenoms will soon come in cereal boxes.

The E1xxx series will cannibalize E21xx series sales

For instance, the E1400 at $53 (2.0 GHz, 512 KB cache) will perform similar to the E2160 at $84 (1.8 GHz, 1 MB cache).

With AMD out of the equation, Intel will increasingly compete against itself.

300A ever again?

The question is, will it or will it not OC like the legendary Celeron 300A?

If it does, I expect a huge change in tone somewhere down the line
