OCZ RECENTLY supplied us with a sample of the new range of DDR3 products which you can read here.
The company also supplied a new PC Power & Cooling PSU - the Silencer 750W Quad, which we previously used to test the aforementioned memory.
OCZ has been on a bit of a spending spree recently, and purchased PC Power & Cooling, shortly before also picking up Hypersonic.
Thus the arrival of a nice PP&C PSU with the OCZ DDR3.
We've opted to use a press image to show the PSU, as the deluge of cables made it look a mess in our small case. We're now searching for a larger ATX case for this test system.
It also comes in red which is basically the DAAMIT Crossfire branded version. The black one tested has NvidiaSLI certification.
As the name suggests, the PSU is considerably quiet for a high-end 750W power supply. PP&C even supply marketing bumpf explaining the technicalities behind keeping the PSU so quiet, you can see the PDF here.
The amount of cabling is huge - you get a large number of connectors which are all shielded significantly, meaning a standard case will struggle with storing thePSU and it's appendage. Think hard if you have a smaller case.
Fortunately if you have a larger case, and struggle to find PSUs with cables long enough to suit, this is the PSU for you.
The PSU comes with a mammoth 5 year warranty, considering some value PSUs notorious flakiness, this adds huge addition to the value of the product and shouldn't be undervalued when comparing the power supply with a cheaper model with a standard guarantee.

It better be good
I just bought one from Dabs, cheaper, which is handy if they actually have it in stock when they say they have it, ahem!I dont buy from Pixmania on religious grounds as they take the name of Zen in vain, its the name of their bogus surcharge scheme "Zen Engagement" which charges you extra for rights you already have under distance selling law. They are also charging more than Dabs for the PSU, FYI.
Modular
Would it not be nice, if this were a modular PSU?? That would fix the great number of cables, but not the length, unless there were two different lengths provided.Needs Turbo Button & Sleep.
Its Very Full Power Supply, Yet with todays high power needs being variable, TURBO power button might be same as making 825 watts continuous. For those High Watt Cards. Also doesn't SLEEP need some power circuitry?
