AMD down as new year dawns

Banco gives them a ranc. Oh

AN ANALYST from the Banc of America (BOA) issued a sell rating on AMD causing its share price to fall by 45 cents on the NYSE today. AMD stands at $7.06 right now.

BOA also constricted Intel’s (INTC) rating from “buy” to “neutral”, and the chip giant lost $1.50 on the day’s trading thus far, currently standing at $25.15.

Nevertheless, the rumour mill is churning as 2008 starts – could Nvidia (NVDA) for example find the wherewithal to buy AMD? How many chips will Chartered make for AMD in 2008? And the like.

You’d think that maybe Nvidia buying AMD-ATI would cause the authorities to investigate a bit? Well, maybe not. Because Intel has made it plain it wants to get into graphics chips as well during the course of this year.

Nvidia buying AMD? Sheesh. In the fervid world of Wall Street, the more rumours the better because rumours make for fluctuations in share prices, don’t they? µ

Nvidia has that much money?

I didn't even know that Nvidia has enough dough to buy AMD. Wow, it sure has become rich and powerful.

Sexy Rumour People

If rumours were people, this would be Angelina Jolie. Absolutely stunning hot, but ultimately we're left disappointed by the complete lack of substance.

Of course, if nVidia do end up buying over AMD, I fully expect to find that Jolie has grown a brain over-night.

Cher need to do some research

Oh, yeah right, sure, I'll bet as soon as that sale goes through, Intel will be JUMPING at the opportunity to relicense X86 to NVDA.

WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO GET IT THROUGH YOUR SKULLS ANY ONE WHO BUYS AMD WILL VOID THE X86 LICENSE WITH INTEL!!!! THE SALE OF AMD TO ANYONE IS A DEAD END!!!! HELLOOOO!

Ah, but that is so obvious...

...makes all the sense to me. nVidia will acquire AMD once ATI has been split apart from it. Intel will then jump the gun and buy off the stranded Canucks.

After this both entities will have complimentary resources to craft a fully all-inclusive and comprehensive platforms... wait what?!?

nVidia cannot buy AMD/ATI

tell me if i'm not right, but nVidia can't buy AMD/ATI, because of 2 reason.

1. No more competition on the VGA market..

2. The license of x86 that AMD bought from Intel.....

So there is other choice... Samsung that can buy over 40% of AMD... or other company that can put money on AMD...

How to create new rumour: Just add water and shake

What if the conditions of Nvidia buying AMD would be to make them spin off the AMD graphics section, that is to say ATI, as an independent company.

The name Phoenix Graphics is already taken...
