Nvidia about to launch 780i and 3SLI (again)

Dates inside

NVIDIA IS GOING to launch a bunch of parts in the near future. It will be talking about 3SLI and 780i in short order.

The usual caveat is that it tends to change the dates when word leaks, and so with that in mind, we have the following somewhat tentative dates.

3SLI is set for December 10 at 6am PST, and 780i is a week later December 17 also at 6am. For now. µ

bring scalability back

whatever the case, they need to work on their drivers so framerate increases don't fall flat when a 3rd card is added. better scalability would be appreciated.

3way SLI?

Ok, so..mmm...if i have lets say a 8800 GTS 640MB (old one) that has two sli bridge connectors...ill be able to get 2 8800 GTS more and link the 3 of em and get..mmmh...from 150 to 200% increase in performace over using a single card?, i mean thats the idea?. If so...ill need to get a huge PSU...oh and 2 more 8800GTSs...and a 780i board....

Why bother

Why bother when both nvidia and ati can't get the act together with sli and crossfire.

Neither AMD nor Intel can optized there dual cores but yet the technology keeps on rolling out.ATI and Nvidia should work on fixing drivers for 2 cards first.

What application uses dual core or quad core right now. NONE. You see single core is still giving the same fps on games.

What a waste....

why take up another slot on my board for this??? if they could get there act together with the drivers they have for sli, they could use the two cards to there full potential. half the games out there dont even play nicely with sli as it is, and they want to introduce a third card, with more heat and more power consumption for maybe a 20% benefit???? what are they thinking??? i say fix and utilize the power you have first!!!!
