Rumours flare about Duke Nukem release

Insiders talk of 'progress'

THE legendary delayed Duke Nukem Forever game may be released next year. Yeah really.

Voodoo Extreme has been talking to its deep throat inside 3D Realms who tells them that much progress has been made on the code.

It is supposed to be really good with shedloads of popular stuff from the early game making a reappearance.

A console version is also being planned and Voodoo Extreme is expecting further announcements around some big gaming expos next year.

Of course if it does end up in the stores it will be considered as one of the signs of the Apocalypse.

More here. µ

It's too early...

April is several months away yet :)

Duke Nukem

I very nearly fainted when I read that. Its like being stuck in a dessert hoping to find an oasis and then you bump into a camel driver (the inq) who tells you theres one just over the next dune. You don't know whether he's stringing you along or telling the truth.
The end is in sight, salvation for the needy.

Whats going to happen when I get to this oasis? Am I going to find that the water is deliciously crisp and refreshing or is it going to be full of camel s**t?

Yeah... Right...

Appart from proving two rights make a wrong with my comment title, I just want to point out that this game has been "about to launch" for about half my lifetime.

It will be real news if/when it ships :)

Duke Nukem!

Does anyone else here feel like they are in a time warp?

I think I have seen the same story now for years, it will be out in just a few months or next year.

If it comes out it will cause the collapse of Nations I tell you.

I can not believe that they would even put the story out! Not after all that has went on lol.

I'm not going to wait up for the game that is for sure.

It can't ship

DNF has had so much comment, controversy, hype and expectation that it would be sheer suicide to actually bring it out.

I simply cannot imagine that anyone who has followed the DNF saga since its beginning will be happy with a result - there's always going to be something to complain about.

Besides the hurdle of customer reception, there's also the fact that DNF has changed dev team, publisher and game engine more often than a rabbit has had litters.

Who knows how many rewrites this game has gone through ? Look at Daikatana for a glimpse of what might be (shudder).

Frankly I will remain skeptical right up to the moment I have demo to check out.

@ Chris

"Its like being stuck in a dessert hoping to find an oasis and then you bump into a camel driver (the inq) who tells you theres one just over the next dune"

The fitting thing with your analogy is that sand dunes move over time, much like deadlines.
