Microsoft "wins" in Google Facebook "battle"

Updated Does my bum look too big in this dress?

* Updated 10:24PM, British Summer Time. Microsoft has got the ads and has to pay $240 million for the Facebook "share". Google lost, and News International didn't seem to be interested. Microsoft's $240 million buys a paltry 1.6 per cent share of Facebook. Sheeesh.

A REPORT in today's Wall Street Journal said that Facebook is set to plump for a partner and the choice is between Google and the Vole.

The report claimed that one or the other will buy a minority stake in the " winner" to sell ads on Facebook but as the "social networking" site is valued at an astonishing $15 billion, that's still going to cost either a small fortune.

Apparently both the Vole and Goodie Two Shoes are fighting tooth and nail to pick up the "social networking site" - one of the most extraordinarily irritating places on the world wide wibble.

With the exception of Whackypedia, that is. µ

Where'd MySpace run to?

Don't these companies understand that these things are simple fads?

MySpace was THE thing four years ago. Google shelled out loads for advertising rights....

And now, a few years later, the same thing is happening with Facebook.

I wonder where it'll go next?

crap

Whichever of the two is so unfortunate to take on that site ought to have their stock price cut in half for the annoyance factor which is Facebook.

I hate that site and I hate its stupid name. Although I'm pretty close to their target demographic, all I can think of when traveling through the pages of 'friends' is... "this is dumb"

1 day you have three to five friends and then... 100.

Homer Simpson says:
"Stupid Facebook, filled with real friends, and fake friends, and things I don't want to know!"

isp free webspace

why dont people know that they have free webspace as part of the package of having hi speed internet. At least that would boost the load time and stop the advertising on personal sites.

Dammit still haven't used myspace even

Dammit I am so far behind the times, I still haven't gotten around to checking out "myspace" yet!!!

I also missed the boat completely on X-files and Friends tv shows, but I am (finally) catching up on Simpsons at least.

RATS where the hell are my priorities!

Whakypedia?

Would you mind telling me why you say wikipedia is 'irritating'? [Yeah. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:The_Inquirer ]

Facebook SSO

From my point of view, Facebook is well on the way to doing what Microsoft wanted to do with it's passport idea.

The only thing holding back is using e-mail addresses for ID's

If they assigned everyone a ID number instead, and colaborated with local governments to have NI numbers included they could save a fortune on the ID card program.
