MOBLE SPECIALIST software supplier, Masabi, has teamed up with ID authentication company, Gridsure, to replace dedicated RSA keyfobs with a mobile phone app.

Gridsure's Grid ID product uses unique numbers displayed in a grid pattern. So instead of remembering four digits which are set in stone, you remember a particular shape within he grid. That means every time the grid is sent to you, the numbers have changed but you know exactly where to look.

The idea is that these secure grids can be used for a number of high security applications where users typically have to remember to carry around a dedicated encryption password device on their keyfobs.

With this new offering, all you need to do is remember your mobile phone.

What Masabi brings to the party is its Encryptme technology which offers certified 1024 bit encryption compatible with just about any Java enabled handset you care to mention.

So Grid ID guards against phishing or 'man-in-the-middle' identity thefts while Encryptme ensures the information sent over the airwaves can't be hacked.

Of course, some people have enough trouble remembering four digits – let alone a specific pattern which contains four digits. µ
