Steve Ballmer is like Bill Gates' wife

Buy the ads, get Orifice free

ONE THING you can say about Steve Ballmer, and that is he's always good value for a bizarre quote.

And so in an interview yesterday he compared his relationship to Bill Gates as being like a wife, a partner, a parent and a brother in a dizzying display of his ideas of relativity.

He told the Daily Jellygraph that there was a certain " husband-wife, brothers thing" and that "lets you make one plus one equal three, in terms of getting the best from two people".

Microsoft apparently has four kids, two of which are body builders in online and devices while the elder two at high school are his desktop, Windows and Office.

He said that software will be free and come with advertising. And the majority of Microsoft's revenues in three or four years will be from advertising.

You couldn't make it up. But then you're not Steve Ballmer, are you? µ

Asking for it

Cue the endless raft of less-than-flattering daily husband-and-wife relationship issues, of which the undying "does this dress make my butt look fat ?" is certainly going to be the nicest kind.
Way to go to take people's minds off Vista issues, Steve.
Or maybe not.

Ad supported world

It'll be interesting to see how, in this future where everything is available for free with advertising, who exactly is going to be left selling things for the actual money required to pay for advertising and keep the party going?

trying to convince?

What a giant monster Microsoft has become! He's trying to convince holders that Microsoft can survive in a "Google world." What is the REAL point of this? If you really do have so much clout stop wasting time and energy in trying to convince everyone what you are capable of and just DO IT. He's pulling the old self fulfilling prophecy stunt, if he repeats something enough perhaps it will happen, like the patent threats with GNU/Linux. In the mean time it doesn't look too good for them.

Puyo

Stevie B is so cosily ensconced among his wierd corporate Addams Family that he allows hopeless incompetance to go uncorrected. indeed they seem to cherish it like some hideous and heretical perversion of the normal way of things.

CEOs are weird

Jobs thinks phone carriers are like girlfriends, and Balmer think he's like a wife, since he one shared a house with Bill gates. Hell, I've shared a house with dry rot, but it didn't lead me to feel related to it, except in an extremely distant, evolutionary sort of way.

free software?

I just cannot imagine myself saying to CEO: "Of course you can see the annual report, but firstly let watch this ad."

Free software sponsored by adds? That's probably the way to go for Vista. Then they can tell people not to complain about it because it's free :-) Steve then, is probably the horse...

Scary!

What really scares me is it sounds like Bill and Steve are having a kid together. How else does one plus one make three?
