Graphics card, chipset release dates rounded up
Masters of embargoes
SO THE RELEASE DATES are flying around, moving backwards and forwards, but this is how we stand currently, as of this morning.
We think:
RV670 aka the Radeon HD 2950: November 19 (formerly 15).
RD790 aka the Radeon Express 790FX: November 20 (formerly 5)
RX780 aka the AMD 770: November 20 (formerly 5)
G92 aka the GeForce 8800 GT: October 29 (formerly November 12)
C72 aka the nForce 780i: November 12
C73 aka the nForce 790i: January (formerly December)
C72P aka the nForce 750i: November 12
Also watch out for AMD variants (MCP72 and MCP72P) of the 780 chipset on November 12. C73 is notable as it includes support for DDR3.
As it stands, the launches are mostly a week apart, with the 8800 GT coming in a little sooner. However, these are all subject to change, as embargos (and journalists) get pushed around at the whim of their PR masters. Look out for the glut of NDA-signers come launch day. µ

Comments
nope
AMD is going to do a simultaneous launch of the 2950 series, 790FX series, 780 series, and Phenom. There is *no* reason to push the launch of the chipsets back by a day, especially not the presumed "so as not to steal thunder from the 2950 launch". A day buys them nothing. Your information is incorrect.15?
Looks like HD 2950 is on the 15-th of November (instead of 19-th)http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/AMD_RV670_To_Launch_On_Nov_15th/5344.html
Dates
Paper launches are dirty words in this industry now ... so they need enough silicon to ship prior to the day or cop flack accordingly.
I don't doubt the Inq's dates ... it is surprising how many of the "Reputable" hardware sites get their information from here.
The latest Catalyst driver upgrade will please current users.
Onya Inq team !!
dates
Your dates for the RV670 are switched. AMD moved AHEAD the release date for that card. I'm sure that was just so they could move it back again though...AMD Rulez!
I believe AMD have made a big mistake in taken so long in releasing the 790FX chipsets. If you look at Intel they released there next gen chipsets at least a couple of months before there new processors. With AMD waiting so long to release there chipset they have lost customers who where wanting to upgrade there systems ready for the next gen of processors to Intel!
