Channel gains from Vista's woes
Give us XP for crying out loud
A REPORT SAID smaller system integrators are benefiting from the reluctance of people to buy brand name PCs that come stacked with versions of Microsoft Vista.
The report, at Computerworld, quoted one system integrator reckoning his business has soared because people want Windows XP and won't shift to Vista.
That's because Vista appears to make cruel and unusual demands on a system and peripherals attached to a system.
One system integrator quoted in the report said he wasn't recommending any of his customers shift to Vista until this time next year. If the report is true, it won't leave hardware vendors ecstatic about the news.
Many of them had hoped that the introduction of Vista would give their businesses a much needed fillip. The brand multinationals are also probably fuming too but apart from Acer appear to be too frit to say boo to a Vole. µ

Punishment
"That's because Vista appears to make cruel and unusual demands on a system and peripherals attached to a system."A Cruel and Unusual Punishment? Surely that's unconstitutional in the US-of-A.
What I want?
You know what I'm looking forward to?The time when hardware becomes so uber fast, that XP just works faster and faster than before.
I don't want new operating systems which require new hardware just to run as fast as XP did before on the previous generation of hardware.
Double income for Microsoft
It occurs to me that MS can get two licence fees for every new PC.Ship an OEM Vista licence with the PC.
Sell a XP licence to replace the (more) broken OS
Could this be why MS sales have gone up since Vista, but PC volumes haven't?

Laptop with XP
When I received my laptop, shipped by a major brand name this year, it came with Vista. Vista had issues with the WIFI and the ability to play my games.I had one fast laptop going no place with Vista loaded onto it. Vista is a boat anchor from the time the machine boots until the destop is loaded.
Recently I ended up purchasing WinXP for Home. The games I play on my laptop work well with XP and the wireless connects automatically without having to set things up.
Yes, I paid M$ twice for my laptop's OS. Does this make Vole richer?
To do the math, for every sold copy of XP, minus one for Vista sales to really see the how well XP is selling.
Downgrade to XP
Most versions of Vista (excluding the Home versions) include free "downgrade" rights to XP, so there is no need to repurchase XP. It is not easy to do, but it can be done. Google "vista downgrade xp" for more info,Microsoft software
Mike Magee writes: It's unbelievable but true, I am still using a licensed version of Word for Windows from 1987. It has advantages like being simple, it cannot be accessed from the Interweb, and it is still highly functional. It's also supported by peripherals throughout this period.
Heck it even supports modern peripherals. On Windows XP.
vista support?
Microsoft tell us that there will soon be no support for xp, I have news for them, I'm not getting support for the vista os I have right now, so it look like in the future they will not support anything. We don't want a crippled OS.
Why would I want an OS that won't do simple things like play HD-DVDs on my computer monitor and record analog audio? Why do i want an OS that takes up more resources and gives me a glorified face lift instead of added functionality?
Why do I want an OS that could, at any time, invalidate the drivers on my hardware, rendering my system useless.
I'll stick with XP thanks, and wont give MS the pleasure of selling me a licence or bundling one with hardware.
Those not as enlightened will start running into these problems at some point, and hopefully there will be a class action lawsuit.
Use WindowBlinds
if you must have see through boarders and snazzy looking buttons and icons you can do all that with WindowsBlinds slapped onto XP. Not to mention your printer and other peripherals will still work .....Microsoft can keep their DRM pandering OS to themselves...
