Dell owns up to supply snags

No flannel in the channel
DELL HAS ADMITTED on its bog that there's been a royal cock-up regarding its notebook delays.

As we've reported, punters are up in arms over the huge delays on the $3,000 XPS M1330 notebooks after originally being told it would take four to six weeks for arrival. Also delayed are the Inspiron and Latitude notebooks, as well as some of Dell's Vostro products, the blog says.

A fair few customers have claimed that their orders have been cancelled entirely thanks to the overwhelming delays. Dell plonks the blame squarely on the Federal Trade Commission's rules which requires Dell to obtain permission to continue orders if they have been delayed more than once. Customers with cancelled orders will immediately lose their place in the shipping queue, says Dell.

Dell says punters should check their Dell "My Order Status" page for updates on shipments as the company is working to meet its "estimated shipping committments."

Comments on the blog are far from understanding. One poster going by Diane claims that no one contacted her about the delayed shipping, rather, she had to contact Dell. We like the cut of " "sukatemelo's" jib, who perhaps rightly posts "bla bla bla bla bla bla." µ
