Napster 'doing better than expected'

Company upbeat on downloads
BORN AGAIN music download outfit Napster is expected to report better than expected results for the year ended March 31, says the company. Napster's results are due on May 16 when the company's chairman and CEO, Chris Gorog anticipates reporting more than $28 million in revenue.

Gorog says Napster ends its fiscal 2007 with over 830,000 paid subscribers. This, he says "makes us the largest on demand music subscription service in the industry with a paid subscriber base that is both larger than Rhapsody, as well as larger than all of the remaining subscription competitors combined."

"In mid-March, we successfully integrated over 225,000 AOL Music Now paid subscribers."

Gorog also says that Napster added another 40,000 subscribers during the fourth quarter. µ
