Reiser4 inventor arrested for murder

Wife still missing
THE FUTURE of the Reiser4 project is in doubt after the head of Namesys, which develops and supports the ReiserFS and Reiser4 filesystems, has been charged with murder.

According to the Bay City Newswire, Hans Thomas Reiser has been charged with killing Nina Reiser, 31, his estranged Russian missus.

Nina was last seen September 3 while dropping off her kids at her husband's home in the Oakland hills.

Coppers investigating the case say that although Reiser's body has not been found there is enough circumstantial evidence exists to allow for Hans' Reiser's arrest.

Hans Reiser is behind several Linux based developments, which might go west, if he is convicted. The much anticipated Reiser 4, which has not been merged into the Linux Kernel because it does not meet Linux coding standards, was being worked on.

Until then, it had only been adopted by Linspire and Arch Linux. Apparently there is a hope that Novell or IBM pick up the pieces and finish up Reiser 4 for inclusion in the kernel. Our gut feeling is that if they did this they might want to change the name.
