Toaster PC runs BSD and makes toast

LinuxWorld The toaster really works
IF YOU'VE been around computers for many years, you will remember the "flying toasters" screen saver.

The NetBSD Project, here, came up with this eye catching toaster.

The board on the left is the computer that is INSIDE this toaster. It's running BSD, and the guys at the show are happy to be playing with both the OS and tinkering with some toaster hardware.

The toaster really did work, and didn't overheat the CPU! Just for fun, they also had control of the LEDs on the toaster. The keyboard was separate, connected via USB.

The little display is mounted onto the front of the toaster. The enthusiasm of the guys was catching, often drawing crowds to learn about the design, although probably most people already knew about NetBSD.

The computer with embedded Linux* can be found here. And our picture is below. µ

*OF COURSE we meant not embedded Linux but NetBSD. Apologies.
