New X-Box mod chip surfaces

Miffing Microsoft
HERE'S A SITE LIKELY to get up Microsoft's nose.

X-ecuter.com offers a new mod chip for the XBox. It's a doddle to install, they reckon, and will allow users to play copied and unsigned games on the console as well as any region DVDs.

The modders are benefiting from a recent Australian ruling that allowed a modder to sell a mod chip for Sony's rival Playstation console. The aussie court found that Sony's protection system went beyond the bounds of the country's copyright laws. The modder argued that the mod allowed users to use legitimately bought and copied DVDs and games on the console.

The guys at X-ecuter doff their caps to the Enigmah & Xtender mods, without whom they say, "you would all be scratching your asses," and to Evolution-X, "for opening up ftp, media access and larger hard drives".

"We have now finished our work with hardware," they say. "All hardware details have now been passed onto our Chinese friends along with all ideas and designs for new flash update tools. They will be selling things from next week as this is not really our scene."

The modders say they're now concentrating 100 per cent on Playstation emulators for the XBOX. µ
