SICKO HACKERS posted JavaScript code and flashing computer animation on an epilepsy site with the aim of triggering migraines and seizures in users.
The non-profit Epilepsy Foundation shut the site down to kill off the offending messages and to boost security immediately following the attack.
Ken Lowenberg, senior director of web and print publishing at the Epilepsy Foundation, said that fortunately only a handful of people were affected, although some might have fled the site completely and not commented on the attack.
On Sunday the hackers were redirecting victims' browsers to an outside page
with complex images that were designed to trigger seizures in both
photosensitive and pattern-sensitive epileptics.
One user said she was locked up into staring at the screen and was in pain. She
was rescued by her 11-year-old son who turned off the browser.
Most other members suffered from headaches if they logged on.
Currently the blame has been put on a group called Anonymous whoich recently
took on the Church of Scientology. The reason for the attack appears to be
because the site referenced EBaumsWorld, which is much hated by Anonymous. µ
