Tessera snaps up camera firm

MINIATURISED electronics firm Tessera said it paid $29 million in cash for Fotonation, with $10 million extra if everything pans out all right.
Fotonation, a privately owned firm, makes embedded imaging products for digital cameras and mobile phones.
It’s got some patents and forthcoming tech under its belt, including face tracking, “smile and blink” detection and other enhancements.
Tessera (tick: TSRA) said Fotonation is embedded in over two out of three digital cameras sold today so that would probably be two and a half or something, then. µ
