THE GERMAN unit of Vodafone has managed to get a court restraining order banning its rival T-Mobile from releasing a fruit themed Iphone.
According to Dow Jones, the restraining order was issued by a regional court in Hamburg yesterday.
Apparently Vodafone is incandescent with rage that T-Mobile has been given a monopoly to flog the wonderful device in Germany.
A Vodafone spinner said that its move is not an attempt to stop T-Mobile from selling the phones entirely. It just wants a court to look at the outfit's sales practices first.
It looks like Vodafone's legal eagles have flown over Apple's glorious exclusive contract model, which has earned the Cappuccino outfit buckets of dosh in the US. The lawyers must have reached the heretical conclusion that, like many things fruit flavoured, the exclusivity breaches EU consumer, and monopoly laws.
T-Mobile has confirmed the restraining order and it is looking into it.

Not quite related to the article but I think Jobs Mob will claim the name of the fruit itself someday. And we are gonna say, "An "insert your fav fruit" a day keeps doctor away".
I find this funny. Who here is really so naive as to think that if Vodafone had been awarded the contract, they would not do everything in their power to protect the exclusivity of their contract with Apple?
...keeps the mob at bay
