Cyber attack on Estonia scary, says Bush

THE PLIGHT OF CYBERWAR-TORN Estonia was a lesson to the U.S. said President George Bush, thrilled that he can find a new threat to have us worried about.

He met the President of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, in Washington today, expressing the hope that his counterpart might help tighten US cyber-security.

Estonia has been hacked to bits recently, in attacks thought to be directed by Russian servers. Russian authorities claim they have nothing to do with the cyber warfare.

President Ilves suggested the creation of a special NATO bureau in Estonia to combat the continued threat.

He said 97 per cent of all bank transfers in his country were made online, so cyber attacks could inflict considerable damage. Now that the US, Israel and Denmark had all suffered attacks from cyberspace, it was time to give the prospect of cyber war a greater degree of attention, he said. µ
