Firefox security holes ramp up

THERE IS more evidence that Firefox is attracting more attention from hackers as more security holes in the browser are found.

Window Snyder, chief security officer told Infoworld that she is getting daily reports of newly identified vulnerabilities in Firefox.

Snyder said that Mozilla is receiving a lot more customer feedback of late from people concerned about browser security.

Independent security researcher Michal Zalewski has been making much hay publishing flaws in Firebadger. His latest one involved a memory corruption issue that could allow attackers to take control of computers running the software.

Synder said that the outfit was doing its best to speed up the patching process and there would be a range of new security features for use in the Firefox 3 iteration of the browser, code-named "Gran Paradiso" arriving later in the year.
