Soldering irons are for wimps

Sure it's a soldering iron
It goes with the spool of blue solder that is next to it.I had a wire wrap tool but it wasn't electric and my "solder" wasn't blue.
But yeah, it's not a soldering iron. Interesting article. Thanks for publishing it. I would have loved to attended the meet with some of my own vintage hardware and software.

One of the best things about the Inq is the little articles on computing hardware history.I really enjoy reading stuff about the old days when the real geeks built them from kits.
These people are to be admired and respected.
