HP admits wireless laptop problems

Problems with Vista & Wi-fi

I have had problems with my HP 6000 series laptop not connecting reliably to wi-fi, Intel not AMD processor though. Switching to Kubuntu solved the problem immediately :-)

That explains it...

I have a DV6000 with a Turion and yes, the Wi-Fi takes it's sweet time connecting to my home router. It also seems to have issues with channel 1 specifically. Near home, channels 6 and 11 are crowded and channel 1 is nearly empty. I have to use 6 or 11 regardless of the traffic because on 1 the card pokes along a dismal speed if it even connects. I have 2 other notebooks that merrily connect regardless of channel.

not me

I have a Pavilion 9000 series and I've never had problems with the wireless. I've got a Core 2 Duo chip and I've "downgraded" (upgraded?) from Vista to XP. Finding all the drivers... now that was a pain in the arse. But once I found them I have had no trouble at all.
